Register your interest in research

National registries

If you’re interested in finding out about other research in the UK, you might want to register with a more specialised or local service. By registering you could increase your chances of taking part in a study, as the researchers will contact you when something suitable comes along.

The service for England is Be Part of Research. 

Scotland - Share

The Scottish Health Research Register (SHARE) is a register of people aged 11 and over who are willing to be invited to take part in research projects, and have also consented to allow SHARE to use any leftover blood following routine clinical testing. This will aid health research and improve future healthcare throughout Scotland.


Wales - Health and Care Research 

Provides an opportunity for everyone in Wales aged 16 or over to take part in research. Sign up and answer some simple questions and you will join over 30,000 people already taking part. You will be informed about new studies that you can take part in to improve health and help the NHS in Wales plan for the future.


Northern Ireland - Patient and Client Council

The Patient Client Council represents the interests and views of the public on health and care issues in Northern Ireland. You can join the Council through a membership scheme which is free. Your involvement ensures that the population needs and expectations are heard and met in health and social care services’ in Northern Ireland. You can also express an interest in taking part in research.


Join Dementia Research

A UK-wide service that makes it easy for anyone to take part in vital dementia research. Anyone over 18 can sign up, whether you have dementia or not. Simply register your details and a researcher will be in touch when an appropriate study becomes available. You can decide whether to take part in individual studies, with no obligation.

Regional registries

Research for the Future - Greater Manchester

This is an NHS-supported campaign that helps people find out about and take part in health and care research in and around Greater Manchester. Everyone is welcome to register, whether you have a health condition or not as long as you are 18 years or over. Registering means you will be informed about research opportunities that are relevant to you. Their ‘Help BEAT’ campaigns focus on different conditions.


Discover - North West London

If you live in North West London, are aged 18 or older, and are interested in taking part in health research, you can sign up to Discover. All you have to do is give your name, sex, postcode and date of birth. Once you've signed up, you'll be contacted about research opportunities relevant to you.
